Karoline Gilbert is an Assistant Astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute.  She deduces the detailed formation history of individual galaxies in the nearby universe by studying their resolved stellar populations.  Gilbert obtained her PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and was a Hubble Fellow at the University of Washington before joining the JWST/NIRSpec team at STScI.
