The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced $625 million in funding to renew its five National Quantum Information Science (QIS) Research Centers, originally established in 2018 under the National Quantum Initiative Act. Professor and Henry A. Rowland Chair Tyrel McQueen will be able to continue his research in collaboration with the Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage at Brookhaven National Laboratory to advance quantum computing and sensing. Professor Surjeet Rajendran will also continue his research with the Superconducting Quantum Materials and Systems Center within the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory to help scale quantum devices based on superconducting microwave cavities.
