Principal Research Scientist David Thilker and the team comprising the PHANGS program have released new images of 19 nearby disk galaxies that show stars, gas, and dust on small scales. The near- and mid-infrared images uncover the origins of intricate structures in hopes of advancing our understanding of the star formation process.
