Postdoctoral fellow Andrey Vayner, Professor Nadia Zakamska and graduate student Yuzo Ishikawa are part of an international team who just published the first results from an Early Release Science program on James Webb Space Telescope. The team looked at a distant quasar — a massive black hole which is in the process of swallowing large amount of gas — and discovered a swarm of galaxies around it moving with very high velocities. The discovery indicates that the quasar is located in an actively forming, extremely massive cluster of galaxies
