Professor Paul Feldman spent over five decades in service to the department, including a very consequential role from 1996 to 2002 as the department chair. He was a world-renowned researcher in planetary science, and especially in ultraviolet observations of the atmospheres of comets, and planets and their moons. He was respected and beloved by the many scientists he mentored and collaborated with over the decades, as well as by his departmental colleagues. He passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 26, 2022 at the age of 82.
