Prof. C. Megan (Meg) Urry has been elected a member of the JHU Society of Scholars.
She received her PhD at JHU in 1984. She was a member of the senior science staff for many years at the Space Telescope Science Institute, before moving to Yale where she served as Chair of the Physics Department. She also served as a past President of the American Astronomical Society. She is currently the Israel Munson Professor of Physics & Astronomy and Director of Yale Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics. Her research centers on Extragalactic Astronomy, Active Galactic Nuclei, Galaxy Structure, Formation and Evolution, High Energy Astrophysics, and Black Holes.
