It is with great sadness that we report that Professor Zlatko Tesanovic passed away on July 26, 2012, of an apparent heart attack. A leading theoretical condensed matter physicist, Zlatko’s work primarily concerned high temperature superconductors and related materials. In particular, he worked on the theory and phenomenology of iron- and copper-based high temperature superconductors. He also studied the quantum Hall effect, and other manifestations of strong correlations and emergent behavior in quantum many-particle systems. Zlatko published more than 125 papers, and received numerous honors and fellowships. He was a leader in the department and worked diligently to attract stellar faculty and students to Johns Hopkins. He will be deeply missed. Plans for a memorial service on the Homewood campus are forthcoming.
