The Albert Einstein Medal

The Einstein MedalThe Einstein society, located in Bern, promotes in close connection with the University of Bern Einstein's legacy in Bern and Switzerland, as well through different activities and in particular by awarding yearly a medal "to deserving individuals for outstanding scientific findings, works, or publications related to Albert Einstein".  The medal was given the first time to Stephen Hawking in 1979 and since then to many distinguished scientists, among which are: John Archibald Wheeler (1988), Joseph Taylor (1991), George Smoot (2003), Kip Thorne (2009) etc.
