2008 Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship Awards

The Department of Physics and Astronomy presents three annual awards to recognize excellence in teaching and scholarship. The Donald E. Kerr Memorial Award, established in 1979, is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student majoring in Physics. The Rowland Prize for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching was established to honor Teaching Assistants who have exhibited exceptional talent in teaching and interaction with undergraduate students. The Eun-Jung “EJ” Rhee Teaching Award was established in 2007 to honor the memory of EJ Rhee, a promising young scholar and an outstanding teaching assistant in our department.

Congratulations to this year’s award winners!  (From left to right): Joshua Cogan (Donald E. Kerr Award), Daniel Scolnic (Rowland Prize), Shawn Smout (EJ Rhee Teaching Award), and Gregory Caravelli (Rowland Prize).
