Stephen Murray is a Research Professor at the Johns Hopkins University. He received his PhD from the California Institute of Technology in 1971. Before joining Hopkins in 2010, Murray spent 29 years as an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. He performs research in high energy astrophysics using multiwavelength observations with primary emphasis on X-ray observations of AGN and Clusters of Galaxies. Murray is developing photon-counting X-ray imaging spectrometers for space science applications based on active pixel sensors (APS) and CMOS image array technology.
