2015 Student Awards Announced

Congratulations to the winners of the department’s 2014/15 student awards!

Rowland Prize for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching

The Rowland Prize for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching was established to honor Teaching Assistants who have exhibited talented teaching skills and notable interaction with students, in the instruction of undergraduate courses.

  • Prasenjit Bose is the recipient of the 2015 Rowland Prize for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching for his outstanding work in Special Relativity and Waves.
  • Jake Tutmaher is the recipient of the 2015 Rowland Prize for Innovation and Excellence in Teaching for his exceptional performance in Statistical Physics & Thermodynamics.

Eun Jung “EJ” Rhee Teaching Award

The Eun Jung “EJ” Rhee Teaching Award was established in 2007 in memory of EJ Rhee —to honor experienced Teaching Assistants who have exhibited considerable imagination and flair in their teaching.

  • Grace Bosse is the recipient of the Eun Jung “EJ” Rhee Teaching Award for her concern for students in her teaching role in the general physics active learning courses.
  • David Fehling is the recipient of the Eun Jung “EJ” Rhee Teaching Award for his conscientiousness as a teaching assistant throughout his years at JHU and in particular his extra preparation, reliability, and active volunteerism in the general physics lab.

Donald E. Kerr Memorial Award

The Donald E. Kerr Memorial Award was established in 1979 for the purpose of acknowledging outstanding undergraduate students majoring in Physics.

  • Kelley Lampayan is the recipient of the 2015 Donald E. Kerr Memorial Award for her outstanding undergraduate accomplishments in physics.
  • Georges Obied is the recipient of the 2015 Donald E. Kerr Memorial Award for his outstanding undergraduate accomplishments in physics.
