On December 9, 2014, 16 graduate students from the department of physics and astronomy participated in the end of year showcase for the Hopkin’s group SABES, STEM Achievement in Baltimore Elementary Schools.  SABES serves nine Baltimore elementary schools by working to improve STEM curriculum in grades 3-5.

Our volunteers demonstrated concepts from static electricity with the van der Graff generator to the presence of invisible particles with the cloud chamber.

We also had our portable planetarium on hand with a show about the size of the universe.  The Physics and Astronomy Graduate Student Outreach group is excited for a 2015 full of new outreach events!
